Not all Vampires are shiny!

I love Twilight, don't get me wrong. I love some shiny day-walking Pacific Northwestern blood suckers. I am team Jacob all the way. But I just discovered what most of you probably already knew. True Blood vampires are HAWT!!

I just finished watching Season 1 of True Blood on DVD and I have to say I love it. I am about to start on Season 2, then onto Season 3. I believe Season 4 JUST went off the air from playing new episodes last week, so that should be out on DVD some time in the next 6 months. I want to get all caught up so when Season 5 comes on HBO next whenever it's coming on, I will be all caught up and able to watch it.

I may spoil it for you if you have never seen True Blood so if you have never seen it and DO plan on watching it, stop reading now. I don't want to ruin any surprises for you.

I like Bill, but really for about the first 4 or 5 episodes I really wanted Sookie to like Sam back. He is stable, he is handsome, has a good job/owns his own business and has a thing for her real bad. But as the seasons went on I started warming up to the idea of Sookie loving Bill and NOT Sam. As hard as Sam tried to love Tara he still couldn't. His thing for Sookie was too strong.

Speaking of Tara. I love her attitude. She is rude and shitty but so straight forward. You don't have to guess what she is thinking. I loved LaFayette's character too but see that they had to kill him off and put him in the back of Andy's car in the season finale. I am assuming he is dead. It appeared a vampire got him.

It made me wish V juice was real!! I would drink the shit!! Super heightened senses, super-human strength, hippie lovey hallucinations, quick healing. Seems like the perfect substance, if you can get past the fact that it is Vampire blood.

I hate it that the first season killer turned out to be Rene because I really liked him. Love that Cajun accent no matter how fake it turned out to be. But I am glad that Jason wasn't sent to prison for killing all those women, since he obviously didn't do it.

I wish that place really existed... Bon Temps. I am sure there are lots of Southern Louisiana parishes that do look like that and I would love to live there. I love the swampy atmosphere of the Cajun country. I like their food, the way they act, the way they talk. I like everything about them. They interest me.

Now if you had to put the Washington state Vampires against the Southern Louisiana Vampires...True Blood Vamps would stomp their ass every day of the week, but there's enough love in my heart for Vampires from all states. I just never gave the show a chance because I thought there was an overload of Vampire crap coming out and I wasn't interested at the time. But I am watching it now, loving it now and plan to keep watching it until it goes off the air.

If you have never seen it and you want to start watching it, and you have a Blockbuster store in your town...they have 49 cent movie rentals on Sundays and you can get seasons 1 & 2 in the OLD family favorites "TV" section for just 49 cents each. Now season 3 is still on the new release shelf and will cost you 2.99 each to rent those but at least you can see the first 2 seasons for super cheap. I rented seasons 1 & 2 for less than $5.00.

I will forewarn you... there is A LOT of SEXUAL CONTENT in this series. EVERY EPISODE you will see at least 2 couples knocking boots with almost no advanced notice. SO don't watch these around the kiddos. The very first scene in the very first episode shows a girl giving a guy a hand job while she is driving down the road. It shows girl & guy and guy & guy so if you are easily offended by sexual content this may NOT be the series for you!

Do you watch True Blood?

Parent Teacher Conferences can SUCK IT!

You may or may not know that my DD11 has had issues with her main homeroom teacher since the first day of school. DD reports the teacher has picked on her, hollered at her in front of the class numerous times, accused her of talking almost daily when she wasn't even talking, moved her to another seat and threatened to send her to the principal's office.

Let me tell you one thing about DD. She is 11 and has NEVER ONE TIME been in trouble at school FOR ANYTHING EVER. She has never been gotten onto by a  teacher for any thing at all. I have only ever gotten praises from her teachers for how quiet and good she is and how she comes to class and shuts up and does her work and does what she's told. So for this teacher to be picking on her like that kind of threw me and upset me a little bit.

So I couldn't take it any more. I wrote the teacher a letter. I sent a copy of it to the guidance councilor and the principal so if we had a parent teacher conference someone else would know what it was about and could be there for it.

Almost 2 weeks after I sent the letter her teacher finally called me. Said she had tried to call me a few weeks ago. (Didn't happen) And said she wanted to set up a time to have a conference. We agreed on the very next day.

I showed up right on time, she met me in the lobby and we both went into the principal's meeting room/table thing. She began by telling me What A SHOCK my letter was to her. She said she had to read it several times because she HAS NO IDEA what I am talking about. She said she doesn't pick on DD, she has never hollered at DD, she didn't move DD because she is a talker and she never threatened to send DD to the principal's office. I asked her, UM SO I guess my DD is hallucinating all this? She claims that DD is NOT a talker and has never gotten talked to or in trouble in her class and that there is no problem AT ALL. Her other two teachers also said there has been no problems with my DD and she IS NOT a talker.

SO she kept repeating her story that all of it was a shock to her and none of it is true. Of course she is not going to admit in front of the principal YEAH I have been harassing your DD and being meant to her MY BAD. No. She denied denied denied. So we basically left it at she was telling the truth and my DD was imagining everything. No resolution whatsoever.

DD told me the VERY NEXT DAY after the parent teacher meeting where teacher denies EVER getting onto DD for talking, got onto her AGAIN for talking that she wasn't doing. DD tries to tell her it wasn't her talking, tries to tell her WHO IT WAS that was talking and teacher tells her I DON'T WANNA HEAR IT. SO now what to do? Let it keep going on and build up again and have another parent teacher conference? All they really have to do is make the teacher leave the room and ask the kids she sits with if teacher ever gets onto DD for talking or has ever threatened to send her to the principal. The kids will tell the truth. But they won't do that. They will take this woman's word as the truth when I know for a fact she was sitting there lying through her teeth.

I'm not sure what I will do from here but I won't tolerate this all year.

9/11

I was on my way to work, September 11th, 2001 when I first heard on the radio that a passenger plane had crashed into one of the World Trade Center towers. Nobody was sure at first if it was an accident or if it was intentional. Not until a few minutes later when the second plane flew into the second tower. I had already gotten to work by the time the second plane had hit. It was then being reported as a possible act of terrorism. I remember talking to one of my co-workers about it and told her I BET IT WAS OSAMA BIN LADEN. But she didn't even know who Osama Bin laden was. I explained to her how he had made an attempt to blow up the WTC years prior to this attack. I didn't know at the time how true my words would be.

We had just gotten a new big screen TV the day before this happened and it was one of those that if you left the TV on an image for any length of time the image would burn itself into the screen. That evening when we got home from work, we turned on Fox News and watched it all night. It was on the same channel for so long that the Fox News logo got burned into the bottom corner of our TV screen. (It eventually went away)

Nobody knew at the time, when the towers fell, how many ppl were even in the buildings or if most of them had been evacuated. We know now that thousands of ppl were still in the buildings. We also tend to forget that ppl lost their lives in planes that crashed into the Pentagon and in a field in Pennsylvania. We forget about the real heroes of that Pennsylvania crash that kept that plane from being flown into another large public building, possible even the White House or Capital.

800-1,100 ppl that died that day were ppl who were on those hijacked flights. SO many firefighters and police officers were lost all at one time, while they were trying to evacuate the buildings.

I am glad that at least on this 10th anniversary of that fateful day, the families at least have the comfort of knowing that the man who was responsible for their family member's death is now dead and gone himself.

ATTENTION FACEBOOK USERS

FACEBOOK has changed it's news feed interface AGAIN. Now it is only showing you posts from people who you have recently interacted with. If you want ALL YOUR FRIENDS to be able to see your posts and you want to be able to see all your friends posts, repost this and pass it on. Go to ACCOUNT>EDIT FRIENDS> then from the drop down menu at the top left of the page click>ALL FRIENDS. I just checked mine and IT WAS set on "recently interacted" instead of all friends.

To check to see what news feeds you are getting, scroll to the bottom of the News Feed page, and click Edit Options. Here you will see the choice 'Show posts from:'. This is where Facebook changed a default setting some months ago. They changed it to "Friends and pages you interact with most". If you change this to "All of your friends and pages", then you will see more news feeds.

NYQUIL can suck it!

UPDATE: It has been brought to my attention that the FULL LITTLE MEDICINE CUP of Nyquil that I drank is more than DOUBLE the normal FULL dose and that I probably came close to a Nyquil coma. Just thought I would share that with you. Totally NOT Nyquil's fault at all. As seeing as I was a nurse for 17 years you would think I would have read the dosage instructions. NOPE. Not me. Fill the cup, drink the cup, go to sleep.

I had an upset stomach last night. I took my evening medications as usual (one of which makes me sleepy) and proceeded to throw up one hour later. Not knowing if or how much of the pill got absorbed I didn't want to retake all my meds. I decided to just take a Lunesta sleeping pill to help me sleep in case I had indeed thrown up my medicine. An hour later I threw up again. There goes the Lunesta. At that point I was concerned because I have insomnia so bad I won't fall asleep AT ALL if I don't have something to help put me to sleep. So I decided to break open a new bottle of Nyquil we have had in the cabinet for probably 8 months. (We don't really use Nyquil so I am not sure why I ever bought it) So I took a dose of Nyquil and DIDN'T throw up after that. (It just gave me heartburn and burned my esophagus as if I had taken some shots of Whiskey) About an hour later I was ready for bed. I must have slept well because I didn't wake up all night, and when my alarm went off this morning I actually hit snooze on my phone. I never hit snooze when my alarm goes off. I turn the alarm off and get right out of bed. I don't phuck around. I got up, got the kids up, made them some cereal (I was too sleepy to make them anything else) and I laid back down on the couch while they were eating and told the boy child if I fell asleep to wake me up at 7:30. SO in perfect form, being afraid of being late, he wakes me at 7:20. So I had not even really fallen asleep. I got up and took the kids to school and came back home and crawled directly into bed to take a long morning nap. I slept from 8:00 to 10:50. Almost 3 hours. And now as I sit here just after NOON I still feel sleepy like I could go lay back down and take another nap. Like I said, we don't ever use Nyquil so I didn't know what to expect but I think it sucks ass since I feel groggy and hungover. Now in defense of Nyquil (gotta be fair) I am not sure how much of my other meds had actually gotten into my system before I threw up so it could have been a combination of meds AND Nyquil that made me so sleepy. But for now I am going to say Nyquil can SUCK IT.

In other news...2 weeks ago I ordered (online) our tickets for Cirque du Soleil La Nouba show that we are going to in Orlando in October and the tickets came in a few days ago. They were addressed to my husband so I didn't open it, but he opened it and told me "it's some Disney shit" and it was 5 credit card looking cards glued to a piece of paper. I hope they let you keep the cards after you use them to get in. I would like to have one to put in our photo album with the pictures we are going to take while at Disney.

It's just 49 days until time for us to go to Disney!! It's almost here. I am getting more and more excited the closer we get to time to go. I get a nervous stomach and feel like I need to crap myself when I think about flying by myself with the 3 kids, all of whom have never flown and all of whom are scared shitless we are going to crash and die when we fly to Orlando. My husband is driving from his job in another state directly to Disney and we are all flying from here in our state. That way we will get to fly (get there quicker) but we will also have a car while we are there. Win win.

I haven't heard anything from anybody at the school since I sent the letter to DD's bitch ass teacher. The guidance councilor nor the principal have called me to discuss it. DD said she had a substitute yesterday, the bitch teacher was absent, and it made her day so much better not having to deal with her. She said although nothing out of the ordinary happened, it was the best school day of her life because she got relief from the evil witch. That's pretty phucked up that a bitch teacher can affect a kid so strongly like that to where the kid gets upset and stressed to every day having to deal with her. DD said ALL THE KIDS hate this teacher. But the school is not going to do anything about her. Hopefully things will get somewhat better for her or if not, I will call and make an appt to have a parent teacher conference. Weekly if need be.

I will keep you updated as things happen.

IPhone can SUCK IT!! I love my new Droid.

No offense to all you who have IPhones and love them. I only had mine for 3 weeks but I wasn't impressed with it. It was much more simple than I thought it would be. There weren't as many widgets and functions as my husband's droid had. So I sent my IPhone back and ordered a Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) And I LOVE IT. It has 16 GB built in memory card and you can put in an additional sd micro card of up to 32 additional GB. I only got a 8 GB micro sd card because that's what Walmart had. I was going to get a 16 but I didn't want to order it off the internet and wait on it. Office Max nor Walmart either one had a 16 GB micro sd card. I only wanted the sd card so I can load all mu music (700 songs) onto the card and not have it take up a lot of room on the phone. My husband showed me how to move all my music over from ITunes. Once it was done I only have 3 GB left on the sd card. But I don't need it for anything else. Unless I take a lot of pictures then I might put those on the sd card.

If you are considering getting a droid, Samsung Captivate 2 comes out September 18th. Watch some You Tube videos on the Captivate 1. It is so much more awesome than an IPhone. Just the amount of apps and widgets that come on the phone pre-loaded is a lot. And the droid app market has a lot more variety of apps and games for less money on most apps and games. A few of the big games I bought cost the same on the droid as it did on the IPhone. Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. They were both $4.99.

I know some of you are die-hard IPhone lovers and don't want to ever give up the IPhone, but if you ever really investigate a droid...well I can't speak for just any droid. I have heard there are quite a few that suck ass. But this Captivate is a bad ass phone.

Now when I first got my IPhone I liked it. I was impressed with it only compared to the non smart phone I had been using for the last 2 years. I went app crazy. Mostly free games for the kids but some paid apps and games. But as I compared my IPhone to my husband's droid phone I felt like I was gypped. Fortunately for me, once you upgrade your line and get a new phone you have 30 days to return it and get something else. So with less than a week to spare I sent back the IPhone and ordered the droid. And in true AT&T style they over-nighted that BITCH to me and I got it today. I just ordered the MF'er YESTERDAY!! He told me it would be here Friday! Yay for overnight shipping.

In other news...just 51 more days!! 51 short days. Less than 2 months to go until our 10 day vacation at Disney/Universal!! I know my husband is going to be so gawd dayum glad once this trip is over so he won't have to hear me talk about Disney anymore. I will probably still talk about it though. Maybe even more once I have been there and fell in love with it!

The kids have been in school almost a month now. My son has adjusted and is doing ok in his class but my daughter has still been having issues with a mean teacher. She has 3 teachers. They change classes 3 times so there is no way for her to get away from this teacher or get another teacher because there are just 3 of them. No alternates to swap out classes with. I finally had heard enough and decided to write the teacher a letter and also send a copy of it to the school's guidance councilor and the principal. I want her to know, she may not like my daughter. She may be mean to my daughter. But she is going to have to deal with me ALL PHUCKING YEAR. If this letter doesn't change her attitude, or even better, makes it worse (as retaliation against DD) I will call and make a parent teacher conference with the principal. My DD asked me this morning not to give them the letters because she is just SURE this is going to make this woman worse against her. This is a teacher who, at the beginning of the year, stood in front of the class for half an hour telling/warning the kids just how mean and stubborn she is. Forewarning them? But I told her in the letter how ridiculous I thought that was. I told her she does not have permission to HOLLER at my daughter in front of the whole class for ANY reason. I told her she shouldn't be yelling at ANYBODY'S kids to begin with.

She keeps getting onto my daughter for talking. My daughter is not a talker. She never has been. Not one time AT ALL EVER since the first day she started school at 5 years old has she EVER got in trouble for anyt hing. Not even talking. And I don't think for one minute that my daughter decided after 11 years to all of a sudden become a talker and disruptive to the class. Every time my daughter comes home and tells me the teacher hollered at her and threatened to send her to the principal's office my daughter tries to tell her it was not SHE who was talking and tries to tell the teacher who IT WAS talking and the teacher tells her she doesn't want to hear it and if she says another word she is going to the pricipal. It has my daughter so stressed and devastated that she is being picked on. My daughter is usually the one the teacher loves because she sits quietly, does her work, doesn't bother anybody, dresses like she is suppose to and doesn't talk out. Every teacher she has ever had has bragged to me that they wish all the students could be like Katelyn. Until this year. ONE TEACHER. The other 2 teachers have not gotten onto my daughter for talking ONCE. SO not only did my daughter just decide to become a talker all of a sudden but she decided to just do it in ONE CLASS. I don't think so.

I hope for my daughter's sake she doesn't get treated worse because of me trying to stand up for her.

I will keep you updated and let you know what becomes of it or what happens after this letter today.

Have a good Labor Day weekend. Don't drink and drive, don't eat too many hot dogs and wear your sunscreen. =)
